What the subsidy actually pays
Most calculators scale the subsidy with system size. The scheme does not. Here is what you can really claim.

The application, start to finish
Seven steps, of which you personally need to do two. We handle the rest.

Register on the National Portal
With your DISCOM, consumer number and mobile. This creates the application in your name.

Apply for feasibility approval
The DISCOM checks your connection and sanctioned load can support the proposed system.

Install through a registered vendor
Only work by a DISCOM-registered vendor using ALMM-listed modules qualifies.

Submit plant details and apply for net metering
Capacity, module and inverter details are filed against the application.

DISCOM inspection and meter installation
A bidirectional meter is installed and the installation is inspected.

Commissioning certificate is issued
Generated on the portal once the DISCOM signs off. This is what triggers the claim.

Submit bank details and receive the subsidy
Paid by direct transfer, typically within 30 days of commissioning.
Questions people ask
How much subsidy can I get?
For a household: ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third, capped at ₹78,000 in total. The cap is absolute — a 10 kW system receives exactly what a 3 kW one does. Registered housing societies get ₹18,000 per kW for common facilities, up to 500 kW.
Is the subsidy taken off the price I pay upfront?
No. The subsidy is paid into your bank account by direct transfer after your DISCOM commissions the system, typically within 30 days. You pay the full amount first and are reimbursed afterwards, so budget for the whole cost.
Does my installer have to be registered?
Yes. The system must be installed by a vendor registered with your DISCOM and use ALMM-listed modules. Ohm Power is an MNRE-registered vendor on the PM Surya Ghar portal via BESCOM. A cheaper quote from an unregistered installer costs you the entire subsidy, which is almost always more than the saving.
Can I claim the subsidy twice for the same house?
No. The subsidy is once per electricity connection. If a previous owner claimed it for that connection, it cannot be claimed again, even if you extend the system.
Do I have to apply for the subsidy myself?
The application is in your name on the National Portal, but we prepare and file it, coordinate the DISCOM inspection and follow the claim through. You should not need to visit a DISCOM office.
